Royce Hearn’s musical journey began long before he ever stepped into a recording studio or onto a stage. At just three years old, he began exploring rhythm by playing with chopsticks on a table. By four, he was already developing his skills on piano and drums. What started as an early fascination with music quickly evolved into a lifelong pursuit of musicianship, creativity, and entertainment.

By age 10, Royce had begun producing music, and by 12, he had expanded into DJing. Over the years, he developed into a versatile multi-instrumentalist, performing on keyboard, piano, organ, drums, and bass guitar. His experience also spans music production, recording engineering, DJing, and music direction.

Growing up in Pittsburgh, Royce had the opportunity to learn from and be influenced by respected local musicians and educators, including James Johnson III, Dr. James Johnson (Dr. J), Howie Alexander, and Charles Rowe. His musical development continued at Temple University, where he studied Music Business and expanded his understanding of the music industry, artist development, and the business behind creative careers.

Royce also gained valuable insight into professional musicianship and live performance through mentorship from Tre Lambert, a drummer whose performance credits include artists such as Drake, Tye Tribbett, Lil Durk, and Ty Dolla $ign.

As a music producer, Royce has earned two Billboard charting producer credits and accumulated more than 3 million streams across records he has produced. His work reflects an appreciation for multiple genres and a passion for bringing musical ideas to life, both in the studio and on stage.

As the founder and bandleader of Heatseekers, Royce brings together his experience as a musician, producer, DJ, and music director to help shape the group’s sound and creative direction. His approach combines technical musicianship with an understanding of modern music, performance, and entertainment.

Whether behind the keys, on the drums, playing bass, in the studio, or leading a live production, Royce is driven by the same passion that started it all: creating music that moves people.
